Area of Practice
Mr. Mtafya has 17 years of experience in handling contentious and non-contentious legal matters. Before working at Nexlaw Advocates, he worked at IMMMA Advocates and later with Deloitte & Touché (East Africa) as Senior Legal Advisor.

Mr. Mtafya is involving in advisory and handling disputes related to corporate taxa, VAT, international taxation, customs and employment. Mr. Mtafya is also specialized in company law in areas such as formation of business entities, winding up/liquidation of companies, restructuring, mergers & acquisitions, company secretarial and general compliance. He is also handling banking issues such as creation of security documents, syndicated loans, recovery of bad debts, receiverships and advisory.

Mr. Mtafya has extensive knowledge and experience in the field of investments. He has particularly assisted clients in establishing investments in Tanzania, application of investment incentives from Tanzania Investment Centre (TIC), Legal Advisor in Initial Public Offers (IPOs) and other areas in capital markets and securities. He is also involved in creation and review of various contracts, due diligence and feasibility studies.
Mr. Mtafya is also involved in litigation, mediation and arbitration. He is handling disputes on different areas such as taxation, employment, immigration, insurance and all other commercial transactions.

Dr. Mwakaje has over 20 years of experience in handling contentious and non-contentious legal matters and advisory services. He is a well-established legal practitioner and consultant and serves a wide clientele base both locally and internationally. He is also an experienced and senior researcher having worked with the University of Dar es Salaam and other universities in Africa, Europe, and North America. He has served as a consultant in various government projects, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), commercial entities, and private sector generally.

He has also served as a consultant to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), World Trade Organization (WTO), United Nations Commission for Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO).

Dr. Mwakaje handles matters relating to research and general commercial transactions relating to intellectual property rights and litigation; Merger and Acquisition, project financing and management, investments, insurance, and regulatory and compliance aspects for telecommunication and ICT industry.

Dr. Mwakaje is a specialist in intellectual property and investment law. He advises clients on the acquisition, maintenance, and management of intellectual property rights; acquisition of certificates of investment incentives, and regulation of capital market and securities, telecom and energy related investments/companies.

Dr. Mwakaje also specializes in devising and advising on the appropriate strategies for the management and operation of investments in Tanzania.Dr. Mwakaje has extensive experience in researching and litigating commercial, intellectual property, and investment disputes in various fora in Tanzania.

Mr. Mkumbukwa has 13 years of experience in handling contentious and non-contentious legal matters. David is an Accountant at NexLaw Advocates. He holds a Bachelor Degree in Accountancy from the Institute of Finance Management (IFM) and is a member of The National Board of Accountants and Auditors. He is responsible for all issues related to Finance at NexLaw Advocates.

He has exposure and experience in various areas of accounting and tax issues and responsible for maintaining accurate and updated records of the company’s financial activity which includes bank records, tax preparations, tax filings, payroll records, purchase and sale records, budget preparations and regulatory filings.
 

Medrack is responsible for providing general administrative assistance to the firm, whereas makes the day to day operations of the firm comforatable by filling documents in court registries on time, file clients compliance paper works in relevant registries on time e.t.c.

Ms. Tarimo is an Office Management Secretary at NexLaw Advocates. She holds a Diploma in Business Administration from the Learn IT Institute of Business & Technology.

She is responsible for front desk operation (reception) and management of office logistics and diaries in making sure that all calls and appointments are attended as scheduled
